Visit Preparation

Ways to Make a Leadership & Education Consultant Visit Constructive and Informative

GREETING
Greet the Consultant when he arrives.  Help him unload his car and show him to his room.

TOURS
Give the Consultant a tour of the house and your campus. In a sense, this will be his home for a few days, so help him feel comfortable in his new surroundings. Make sure he knows when and where members are eating lunch and dinner.  He is always willing to try out a great local restaurant.

LODGING
Make sure the Consultant has a bed, clean sheets, and towels.  Also, make sure he has access to an internet connection, washer and dryer, and how to get to the nearest post office.

FORMS
Be prepared for the Consultant's visit by having all the officer report forms, schedule of appointments, and a list of chapter officers and their contact information completed for the Consultant when he arrives.

MEETINGS

Remind the chapter members that they need to be present at the group meetings and the other meetings that they have signed up for.  The Consultant will want to meet with the officers, new members, chapter advisers, Greek adviser, and any other members interested in meeting with him.  These meetings are necessary for the Consultant to fully understand the group so he can give specific suggestions and ideas to help the chapter.

BE ON TIME
Make sure officers and committee chairmen show up on time for scheduled appointments.

BE OPEN AND CANDID
Be as open and candid with the Consultant as he is with the members of the chapter. The Consultant is a brother there to help with any problems. It is much easier for him to give suggestions and solutions for your problems if you are open, candid, and honest with him.

RESPECT
The Consultant is a brother and a guest of your chapter.  Please treat him as you would want to be treated; with respect and consideration.

LISTEN & FOLLOW UP
The Consultant will give officer and members a number of ideas to improve the chapter. Listen to these suggestions and try to implement them into your chapter.  If you need additional help or guidance, feel free to contact the Consultant after he leaves, or any other member of the International Headquarters Staff, or your Regional Counselor.
