History of IHQ
For the first sixty‑seven years, the records of the Fraternity were maintained by Alpha Chapter and then by the Grand Chapter on a voluntary basis. In 1923, the work had outgrown this method of operation, and an Executive Office was opened in New York City. In 1928, with the employment of the first executive, the Headquarters was moved to Huntington, West Virginia. In 1932, it was moved to Trenton, New Jersey, and was located in a home on Riverside Drive from 1971‑1990. In 1990, with a move to Indianapolis, the name of the Executive Office was changed to the International Headquarters. The Headquarters was located in an office building on Allison Pointe Trail in Northeast Indianapolis. In December of 1993, the Headquarters relocated to the former Zeta Tau Alpha Headquarters on Founders Road in the College Park area in Northwest Indianapolis.
