Providing Visitors with Anonymous Access
You can access our website home page and browse our site without disclosing your personal data.
Our Web site does not enable our visitors to communicate with other visitors or to post information to be accessed by others. There are links to external websites which may or may not collect personal information and/or use cookies. Please refer to the privacy policy of linked websites for their privacy practices.
Directories and other online contact information
Certain contact information is provided on the website. These directories are provided for the convenience of the members of Theta Chi Fraternity so that they may establish contact with these members/volunteers for the sole purpose of conducting Theta Chi business.
The addresses, phone numbers and email addresses in the directories may not be used for any personal or commercial gain including but not limited to: scholarships, philanthropic causes, business ventures, political campaigns, etc.
Members who are found in violation of this policy will be sent a warning by the International Headquarters of the Fraternity. Violations may be punished by censure, suspension, and/or expulsion from the Fraternity.
Members can opt-out of listing on the website by sending an email to ihq@thetachi.org or by sending a letter to the International Headquarters at the address at the end of this policy.
Automatic Collection of Information
We do not use cookies on our Web site. We do not automatically log personal data nor do we link information automatically logged by other means with personal data about specific individuals. Certain non-identifiable information provided by your web browser (e.g., IP Address) may be compiled in an anonymous fashion to provide statistics on web-site usage. At no time is this information connected to any other information within the Fraternity or submitted by users of the web-site.
Data Collection and Purpose Specification
While using the Theta Chi website, we may ask you to enter certain contact information such as your name, e-mail address, street address, or phone number. This information may be shared with undergraduate chapters, alumni chapters, the Foundation Chapter, and other related entities for the purposes of contacting you. This contact may include:
- Providing you with the Rattle and other publications of the Fraternity
- Inviting you to certain events or meetings of the Fraternity
- Providing information on our scholarship programs and fundraising activities
- Other services such as the Directory of Theta Chi
In addition, certain personally identifiable information (e.g., credit card information) may be collected for the purposes of:
- Payments of fees or for services provided (e.g., initiation fees)
- Registration for events (MYLC, CLC, SFP, Convention)
- Donations to the Fraternity
- Purchases from the online store
We use secure transmission methods for receiving this information.
In some cases, specific services are provided by third parties. If personally identifiable information is provided to third parties for specific services, Theta Chi Fraternity requires that information be used for the sole purpose of providing said service and all information is to be kept confidential. No third party provider is authorized to sell, rent or trade contact or personally identifiable information.
We do not send mass unsolicited e- mails, nor do we sell membership information collected over the World-Wide-Web to unaffiliated entities.
If you wish to edit, complete or remove any information provided to the Fraternity, please send a letter to our International Headquarters and/or send an email to ihq@thetachi.org.
Security
We have implemented security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from:
- unauthorised access
- improper use or disclosure
- unauthorised modification
- unlawful destruction or accidental loss
All our employees who have access to and are associated with the processing of personal data are obliged to respect the confidentiality of our visitors' personal data.
We ensure that your personal data will not be disclosed to State and/or Federal institutions and authorities except if required by law or other regulation.
Access to the personal data we may hold about you
You can ask us whether we are keeping personal data about you by sending a letter to the International Headquarters or an email to ihq@thetachi.org.
We will provide you with a readable copy of the personal data which we keep about you. In order to protect your privacy we may require proof of your identity before disclosing personal data. We will provide this information without any charge.
We allow you to challenge the data that we hold about you and, where appropriate, you may have the data:
- erased
- rectified or amended
- completed
We reserve the right to refuse to provide our visitors with a copy of their personal data, but will give reasons for our refusal. We do, however, allow you to challenge our decision to refuse to provide you with a copy of your personal data.
Changes in this Policy
We reserve the right to change our policy at any time. We will provide advance notice of any such changes in this Web site.
