Undergraduate Giving Program

The Undergraduate Giving Program (UGP) was introduced in the Summer of 1996, at Convention in Orlando, Florida.  It is a fund raising initiative that is specifically designed to appeal to undergraduate members of Theta Chi Fraternity, and, by doing so, establish a habit of giving that continues and grows when undergraduates become alumnus members of Theta Chi.

For a nominal annual contribution of at least $5, undergraduates are provided recognition through the annual donor list that is published in spring Rattle, they are given one of three distinctive lapel pins to wear, and their gift becomes part of the endowed Slivinske Fund (named in honor of former Executive Director Dale A. Slivinske (Gamma Sigma/Duke '68), a member of the Fraternity's Chapter Eternal since August 29, 1989) that yields academic scholarships specifically for undergraduate members of the Fraternity. As donors, undergraduates are placed on the distribution list for The Rattle for life.

First time donors through the UGP are given a distinctive bronze-colored lapel pin that has the Fraternity's Coat of Arms on its face, along with the words "Establishing a Tradition."   At CLC in the summer of 1997, the UGP's first anniversary, a silver-colored lapel pin (same design as the bronze pin, but with "Continuing the Tradition" ) was introduced for second time donors.  A gold-colored pin for third time (or more) UGP donors, with "Living the Tradition" on its face, was introduced at CLC at Maryland, in the Summer of 2001.
