Reginald E. F. Colley Award Scholarship Fund

The Reginald E.F. Colley Award is the highest honor bestowed upon one outstanding undergraduate in Theta Chi Fraternity.  The award is presented annually by the Grand Chapter  of Theta Chi Fraternity to the undergraduate member who best demonstrates distinguished service to alma mater, Fraternity, and chapter.

The original trophy was presented by Frederick W. Ladue, Iota/Colgate, in memory of Reginald E. F. Colley, who was a member of the Grand Chapter from 1925-1926.The original trophy, a large silver loving cup, was retired in 1950 and is on display at the International Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana.  A large traveling plaque replaced the original trophy.  The recipient’s name was engraved on this plaque which his home chapter kept to display for one year.  The selected individual received a smaller replica of the plaque for his own possession.  In 1969, certificates for those men receiving the second and third highest number of votes were established.

Today, the Colley Award Winner receives a large wooden plaque bearing a pewter coat of arms and engraved plate. Framed certificates are still awarded to the first and second runner-up to the Colley Award.; plus they also receive scholarships to support their educational pursuits. The Foundation Chapter currently presents a $1,500 scholarship to the Colley Award recipient and first and second runner up.
 
The informal mission of the Foundation Chapter is "Helping Brothers Help Brothers," so a word of thanks is also offered to all undergraduates and alumni who have provided financial contributions to the Foundation, so that our Fraternal Helping Hand can be extended to our Colley Award scholarship recipients.

- The Grand Chapter appoints a committee of alumnus brothers, several of who have received the Colley Award, to review all applications and determine the recipient and runners-up.
