THETA CHI FRATERNITY ANNOUNCES 2014/2015 GRAND CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD RECIPIENT

SEPTEMBER 8, 2015 - Carmel, IN - The 2014/2015 recipient of the Grand Chapter Scholarship Award is Beta Tau/University of Southern California. The chapter earned an average GPA of 3.495 for the 2014/2015 academic year. The all men's average GPA at the University of Southern California was 3.15. Arrangements are currently being made to present the men with the trophy this fall!

The fraternity’s maxim is used to emphasize Theta Chi's commitment to the mission of the institution in all aspects and responsibility of our members to be an active participant in campus affairs.  The maxim implies that Theta Chi members are to be loyal to their alma maters, both as students and as alumni. As students, the greatest loyalty to alma mater is shown by excelling in academic work.

The Grand Chapter Scholarship Award, also referred to as the Stanford Trophy, is presented each year to the chapter with the most outstanding academic record for the previous calendar year.  The award is represented by a trophy which was given to the Grand Chapter by Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Stanford University in 1928.  The Grand Chapter Scholarship Award winner is determined by comparing the chapter GPA to the campus all-men’s average.  Since some campuses measure grades outside of the traditional 4.0 scale, a formula is utilized to properly gauge academic performance for each chapter and to determine a winner.

Congratulations to Beta Tau Chapter!
