Applications for the 2017/2018 Awards are now available!

Carmel, IN  - The 2017/2018 award applications are now available! These applications are for those interested in applying for the Howard R. Alter Jr. Award, the David L. Westol Sacred Purpose Award, the James Ralph "Shug" Jordan Award, the Sidney Ann Gilpin Lewis Award, and the Reginald E.F. Colley Memorial Trophy. Recipients will be presented with their awards this summer at the 162nd Anniversary Convention in Las Vegas.


A short description of each award is listed below. Award submissions are due April 10 except for the first round submissions for the Reginald E.F. Colley Memorial Trophy (February 19) and the Outstanding Senior Awards (March 1). You can access the application by clicking on the name of the award in the red text. Howard R. Alter Jr. Award - The Alter Award is the Fraternity's highest chapter honor and consideration is by application only. To be considered for the Alter Award, all sections of the application must be completed. Although colonies and interest groups may also apply for recognition in most of the categories evaluated in the Alter Award, it may only be presented to active chapters. Chapters that apply for the Alter Award will automatically be considered for the Chapter Achievement Award, which is presented to those chapters that demonstrate substantial progress toward achieving excellence in chapter operations. Chapters, colonies, and interest groups may receive Chapter Excellence Awards for excellence in individual categories.


David L. Westol Sacred Purpose Award - This award is presented annually to the chapter that most exemplifies the spirit of our Sacred Purpose movement. All active chapters and colonies are eligible to apply for the David L. Westol Sacred Purpose Award.


The James Ralph "Shug" Jordan Award - The Shug Jordan Award was commissioned to honor one collegiate scholar-athlete of the Fraternity each year who exemplifies the qualities of leadership, citizenship, brotherhood, and who represents a commitment to excellence in intercollegiate athletics. All collegiate members involved in varsity athletics are eligible to be nominated.


Sidney Ann Gilpin Lewis Memorial Trophy - The Lewis Memorial Trophy recognizes chapters and/or individual brothers that exemplify the Fraternity motto of "An Assisting Hand" through outstanding service to the community. Consideration is not limited to a chapter's activities - it can also apply to an individual's actions or contributions. 


Reginald E.F. Colley Memorial Trophy - The highest honor that the Fraternity can bestow upon a collegiate member, the Reginald E.F. Colley Memorial Trophy is presented annually by the Grand Chapter to one collegiate member who best demonstrates distinguished service to alma mater, Fraternity, and the chapter. First round submissions are due February 19, 2018. Nominate a collegian today by clicking on the red text above. 


Outstanding Senior Award - Each chapter may name one (1) senior for the distinction of Outstanding Senior. Your chapter should name the senior who has made an outstanding contribution to the chapter in the past year. Applications are due March 1, 2018.
