“The event was a part of Theta Chi’s sacred purpose program,” said Vice President of Health and Safety, Will Miles. “It promotes good health and wellness patterns to our brothers and across the campus.”

Mike “Greeny” Green is a Theta Chi alumnus, and also the president and founder of Collegiate Consultants. It is an organization that strives to educate college students about the effects of drugs and alcohol consumption on campuses.

According to their website, “We will not frighten, moralize or preach. We will simply offer accurate information about the mental and physical damage substance abuse can cause.”

The website continues to give insight about how it is important for college students to realize the reality of drug and alcohol abuse and how college students must be able to make smart decisions using the knowledge they will have obtained throughout their college careers.

For the past 18 years, Green has been proactive across the nation speaking and presenting to more than 2000 campuses in an effort to make drug and alcohol awareness a part of every college student’s life.

“We had roughly 70 Longwood students come to the presentation,” said Miles. “Green talked about experiences, as well as his own, and how he was dealing with alcoholism.”

Green’s background consists of being an athlete throughout his college career at West Chester University, and is now a coach and an educator.

His method is to go across different campuses nationwide, stressing the importance of the dangers of drugs and alcohol poses for students.

Miles mentioned that the presentation itself was extremely interactive with the students and Green delivered a powerful message to all who attended the presentation.

Green has developed and produced drug and alcohol programs in New Jersey and Virginia, and is listed among the Outstanding Young Men of America.
