SWEENEY APPOINTED TO NACA® BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The National Association for Campus Activities is pleased to announce Stan Sweeney has been appointed to serve in a recently vacated position on its board of directors. He will serve through April 2022.

"We are excited to have Stan join the board," said Chair Becky Riopel. "His tenured experience with the Diversity Advisory Group (DAG) and his commitment to providing high-quality engagement opportunities for our members and volunteers will be an incredible asset to the Association's leadership."

"Over the past three years, I've had the privilege of serving NACA as the inaugural Diversity Advisory Group chair," Sweeney said. "I'm excited and honored to continue serving our great association through my new role on the NACA Board of Directors."

Sweeney is director of the Highsmith Student Union and Student Activities at UNC at Asheville, where he provides leadership and direction for student involvement and the student union building. A 20-plus-year higher education professional who has served several institutions, he has created a student activities office from program to physical space, facilitated a merger between an activities program and a student union, and has been responsible for a $13 million renovation and expansion.

In addition, he has facilitated diversity and inclusion education for majority students, as well as national leadership institutes, retreats and trainings.
