A miscommunication with the press box led to the crowning of the wrong king at the Missouri State University Homecoming Oct. 27. Iota Beta’s President, Garrett Mueller (2013) wasn’t informed of the blunder until after the coronation ceremony where another contestant had been crowned king.
“It wasn't until I stepped off the field that I found out it was a mistake, said Mueller. “The "king" and I met with our chair of the event, and he informed us. It was pretty awkward with him handing me the crown and sash, but it wasn't my fault or his, so we weren't mad at each other. It was just an unfortunate circumstance,” Mueller said.
A re-crowning ceremony was held at the home opener of the Missouri State men's basketball game on Friday, Nov. 9.
