Yesterday marked the final day on staff for Assistant Director of Recruitment and Expansion Joe Macko.  Macko a member of Zeta Tau Chapter and a 2012 graduate from the University of Michigan-Flint, started at the International Headquarters in May 2012.

During the 2012/2013 school year, Joe served as a Leadership and Education Consultant and was the project leader for our re-colonization efforts at Alpha Pi/University of Minnesota.  He also provided support to the Gamma Theta Colony at San Diego State.  During the winter of 2013, he lead the rebuilding efforts at Alpha Rho Chapter at the University of Washington, which successfully initiated 32 new brothers. In the spring, he lead initiation week activities and preparations for the reinstallation of Omicron/Richmond

At the conclusion of the 2012/2013 school year, Macko was promoted as the Assistant Director Recruitment and Expansion and worked closely with Sr. Director of Recruitment and Expansion, JD Ford.  Throughout the year, Macko made visits to assist with the (re)installation ceremonies at: Gamma Theta/San Diego State, Iota Tau/Northern Kentucky, Delta Pi/Indiana State, Alpha Pi/Minnesota, Beta Phi/Nevada and Iota Upsilon/Texas State.  He supported expansion efforts thoughout the country including groups such as: Zeta Psi/Western Illinois, Epsilon Pi/Northern Illinois, Eta Upsilon/Texas A&M, SUNY-Binghamton, SUNY-Cortland, and many more.  He also lead the expansion project at the University of New Hampshire to recolonize Zeta Chapter, which pledged 22 men on March 22, 2014. Macko assisted with campus presentations to sell Theta Chi as the best choice to various IFCs and College Administrators and also met with various interest groups throughout the country interested in affiliating with Theta Chi Fraternity.

Macko also assisted greatly with recruitment programming held during Recruitment Boot Camp and assisted with programming for non-initiated members during the 158th Anniversary Convention.

The Fraternity recognized Macko with the David E. DeVol Award in May 2013.  He recieved a Citation of Honor from the Grand Chapter during the 158th Anniversary Convention this past July.

JD Ford notes,

"I extend my deepest appreciation to Joe as he embarks on a new chapter in his life. It was an absolute pleasure working with him. In my opinion, Joe is one of the best in our industry as his knowledge on recruitment and expansion is insurmountable. The Fraternity is at a much better place upon Joe's departure. Because of Joe’s work, we have new chapters, which he helped to build; healthy colonies, and strong chapters. I see much success on Joe’s horizon and I wish him well in his future endeavors."

Executive Director Mike Mayer adds,

"Joe’s efforts have been essential to Theta Chi’s success in recruitment and expansion over the last several years.   Throughout his tenure on the staff, Brother Macko consistently did all in his power to perpetuate the ideals of Theta Chi, by striving to bring a positive Fraternity experience to as many qualified men as possible."

A gathering was held for staff members during his last day at the International Headquarters.  Joe shared,

"Today is my last day working for Theta Chi Fraternity International Headquarters, and my what a journey it has been. I'd like to thank all the brothers I've met over the past two years who have positively impacted my life and made me a better man. Working for this organization allowed me to understand where my true passions lie; for that I will be forever grateful. As I've said before and I'll say again, joining Theta Chi is the best decision I've ever made.

Although I am moving on to the next stage in my life this fall when I attend Indiana University to pursue a Master's Degree in Public Affairs, I will never forget the lessons I learned through my significant fraternity experiences over the past 6+ years. I vow to be an active alumnus member by giving back to Theta Chi because what I've taken away is a reward that I can never repay, but I'll do my very best. Theta Chi for Life!
"

Thanks for your service, Joe!  The Fraternity's recent success in growth and broken records in recruitment are in no doubt tied to your hard work and drive.  We wish you the very best!
