On This National Hazing Prevention Week

Brotherhood is the heart of Theta Chi. It is through our shared membership in Theta Chi that genuine bonds are formed as brothers, standing beside each other through life’s challenges and triumphs. From the Fraternity’s beginnings at Norwich University, to over 150 chapters across North America today, Theta Chi continues to build character and inspire true friendship—all under guidance of our shared Sacred Purpose.

Hazing has no part in this vision.

Today, our brothers continue to affirm that true brotherhood is not forged through humiliation or harm, but through trust, the Assisting Hand, and shared ideals. Chapters that choose respect over hazing build stronger ties, create safer environments, and better reflect the traditions and ideals perpetuated in our Ritual and Creed.

Our Ritual sets the tone for what it means to be a Theta Chi. We judge ourselves by our intentions; those outside of our brotherhood will judge us by our actions. The actions of our brotherhood show how closely we adhere to standards established within our Ritual. By making it clear that hazing is unacceptable and never aligns with Theta Chi, we support the next generation living out our Creed.

During this National Hazing Prevention Week, we encourage each of you to take action to promote a hazing-free environment in Theta Chi Fraternity and the larger Greek system. We implore you to be an Upstander and to report if you are being hazed, are aware of others being hazed, or if hazing is occurring in your chapter. If you’ve felt afraid of retribution or are concerned you won’t be listened to, we are here for you. There is no need to be anxious or afraid. Remember, we must always stand against hazing, far beyond just this important week. Together, we remain committed that Theta Chi remains a place where young men grow into leaders of character—Resolute Men—free from the shadows of hazing.
