Omega Wins Homecoming Competition at Penn State

This original story can be found on Omega's chapter website here

This year, Omega chapter and their partners - Gamma Sigma Sigma and PLL - finished first place in the Penn State 2022 Homecoming Competition. With the win, the chapter won a sum of money to donate to the philanthropy of their choice. They chose to gift this prize money to the USO.

This year's float theme was inspired by Jurassic Park, featuring a dinosaur stomping through the Penn State gates, inspired by the gates that lead to Beaver Stadium. The walking banner was titled “Jurassic University Park," with the slogan “Chomp the Comp” (as in competition).

It took 5 days to put the float together, utilizing a structure of mostly PVC pipe and wood, while tissue paper was glued onto chicken wire that was then laid over the PVC skeleton.

The winning announcement was made during halftime of Penn State's "whiteout game" vs Minnesota. The chapter would like to make a special shoutout to Omega Homecoming Chair Keegan Sobczak (2024) for all the work he put in, along with the members from PLL and Gamma Sigma Sigma.
