Ripon Colleges Brandon Taylor has been named the 2011/2012 recipient of Theta Chi Fraternitys James Ralph Shug Jordan Award, which recognizes Theta Chis top scholar-athlete.

Consideration for the Jordan Award is by application only. A committee appointed by the Fraternitys board of directors (the Grand Chapter) reviews the applications and selects a winner annually.

Brandon majored in physics and graduated with a 3.63 GPA. Originally from Arlee, MT, he was named Most Outstanding Newcomer during his freshman year and Best Stroke Swimmer as both a sophomore and a junior. From 2011-2012, he was co-captain of his schools varsity swim team. Outside of athletics, Brandon was president of the Student Media and Activities Committee (SMAC), Ripon Colleges student programming board, from 2010-2012. He was also a peer mentor in the Physics Department, an Admissions Tour Guide and Intern, and was a member of the Ethical Leadership Program.

In his chapter, he served as Social Chair from 2009-2011, was a member of the Orientation Committee and was his chapters IFC representative from 2009-2012.

The Jordan Award is named in honor and memory of Brother James Ralph Shug Jordan, of Chi Chapter at Auburn University, who served as Auburns head football coach from 1951 to 1975. Brother Jordans team went undefeated in the 1957 season and won that years National Championship.

The Grand Chapter created the Jordan Award in 1996 to honor the scholar-athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of leadership, citizenship, academics, brotherhood, loyalty to alma mater, and commitment to excellence in intercollegiate athletics.
