Indiana Governor Mike Pence announced June 20, 2013, that Brother Randall L. Tobias, Alpha Iota/Indiana University 1964, will join the Board of Trustees at Indiana University.

Tobias is the former CEO at Eli Lily and Co., the former administrator for the U.S. Agency for International Development, and the first Global AIDS coordinator. He is also a member of the IU Foundation board, and served as the trustee at Duke University for 13 years and chair of the board for three years.

“Brother Randall L. Tobias exemplifies the leadership prowess and professional perseverance of the ideal Brother of Theta Chi,” said Ray Vanlanot, Alpha Iota/Indiana University 2008. “Aside from his numerous professional chairmanships and appointments; Brother Tobias has perpetuated the ideals of Theta Chi, having established the Randall L. Tobias Center for Leadership Excellence at Indiana University to promote the practical application of scholarship. It comes as no surprise that he was recently appointed by Governor Mike Pence as a member of the Indiana University Board of Trustees, where he will continue to live by our maxim, "Alma Mater First, and Theta Chi for Alma Mater." I would like to congratulate my fellow Alpha Iota Brother, and I thank you for setting such a fine example for all Fraternity men.”

Tobias graduated from IU Bloomington in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in marketing. He is a member of the IU Foundation's President's Circle, and established the Tobias Center for Leadership Excellence at the IU Kelley School of Business in 2004.  You can read Brother Tobias' official bio here.
