Zeta Lambda/Westminster Receives 2019 Grand Chapter Scholarship Award

Carmel, IN - During the online chapter awards ceremony as part of the modified 164th Anniversary Convention schedule, the Zeta Lambda Chapter at Westminster College was named the recipient of the 2019 Grand Chapter Scholarship Award. For the 2019 calendar year, the Zeta Lambda Chapter maintained an impressive grade point average of 3.294 on a 4.0 scale! As a point of comparison, the All Men’s Average at Westminster College was 2.861.

The Fraternity’s Maxim, “Alma Mater First and Theta Chi for Alma Mater,” is used to emphasize that Theta Chi members are to be loyal to their alma maters, both as students and as alumni. As students, the greatest loyalty to alma mater is shown by excelling in academic work.

The Grand Chapter Scholarship Award, also referred to as the Stanford Trophy, is presented each year to the chapter with the most outstanding academic record for the previous calendar year. The award is represented by a trophy which was given to the Grand Chapter by Alpha Epsilon Chapter at Stanford University in 1928. The Stanford Trophy winner is determined by comparing the chapter GPA to the campus all men’s average. Since some campuses measure grades outside of the traditional 4.0 scale, a formula is utilized to properly gauge academic performance for each chapter and to determine a winner.

Congratulations to Zeta Lambda Chapter!

Founded in 1856, Theta Chi Fraternity is a men’s collegiate fraternity with more than 196,000 initiated members and has established 243 chapters. Leadership development, personal development, and service to alma mater are fundamental to Theta Chi Fraternity’s mission.
